Subject: Mitronics Machine With Cache Gets Abend
Date: October 2, 1990

PROBLEM: While running NetWare 386 v3.0 (may also happen with v3.1),
a Mitronics 386/33 with 64K RAM cache would frequently get
the message "Abend: Invalid opcode interrupt". This only
happened with the RAM cache enabled. A Mitronics 386/25
with 32K RAM cache did not have that problem.
Any ideas why the RAM cache caused problems. Do other
machines with 64K RAM cache have problems?
SOLUTION: We have seen this with some of the ALR Flexcache machines.
In general it is always good to disable the caching on
machines that do their own caching to ensure that it does
not conflict with the caching that NetWare is doing. When
everything is up and running, they can try enabling it to
see if they get any problems.
